Canada isn't taking rejected refugees

When President Trump signed a 120-day moratorium on refugees (as well as a 90-day halt on visas from six war-torn countries and Iran) Canada's prime minister vowed to take them.

That was a lie.



Canada is not taking those refugees.

Oh he talked a good game.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has a message for refugees rejected by U.S. President Donald Trump: Canada will take you.

He also intends to talk to Trump about the success of Canada’s refugee policy.

Trudeau reacted to Trump’s ban of Muslims from certain countries by tweeting Saturday: “To those fleeing persecution, terror and war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada.”

Trudeau also posted a picture of him greeting a Syrian child at Toronto’s airport in late 2015. Trudeau oversaw the arrival of more than 39,000 Syrian refugees soon after he was elected.

But Justin Trudeau lied.

These people are in limbo, five months later.

When President Trump’s original travel ban was announced, Prime Minister Trudeau tweeted out a message to refugees welcoming them to Canada even as his government shut down the private sponsorship program set up to assist Syrian refugees.

Since then he has failed to take any measures that would enhance Canada’s refugee program in the wake of such a ban.

Not only has Prime Minister Trudeau refused to condemn this ban, he’s refused to increase the number of refugees Canada takes in and placed a hard cap on a category of privately sponsored refugees.

Additionally, and despite opposition from across the country, Trudeau has refused to suspend the so-called ‘Safe Third Country Agreement’ which prevents asylum seekers from crossing the border at formal points of entry. Instead, hundreds of asylum seekers have been forced to make dangerous crossings over the Canadian border, some losing appendages to frost bite and one woman losing her life.

Trudeau is no fool. Trudeau is not suicidal. Trudeau is no Merkel.

Remember the Joe Tex song, "Skinny Legs and All"?

He shamed the men in the audience for not taking the woman with skinny legs.

"Hey Joe."
"Yeah, Bobby?"
"Why don't you take her?"
"You a fool? I don't want no woman with no skinny legs."

And if the New Democratic Party were in power, Canada would not be taking them in.

"That's alright, you just walk on baby
"And don't you worry about a doggone thing a'tall, huh huh
"Because there's some man, somewhere, who'll take you baby, skinny legs and all."
